AVCWare iPad Mate Platinum is a very complete iPad management tool. Its main purpose is to let you transfer content from your PC to your iPad without the need to sync it with iTunes, although you need to have iTunes installed on your computer. If you don't, the application will send you straight to Apple's website so that you can download it.
When your device is detected, the program will show a short summary of your device that includes its capacity, name, version, type, serial number and how much space is used for songs, videos, photos, and books. On the left, you will see your device name and, under it, a list of all the types of files that you can transfer: music, movies, playlists, books, photos, camera roll, photo stream, ringtones, contacts, messages, apps and notes. To transfer a file, all you need to do is select it and then choose where you want to copy it. There are three options: you can transfer data directly to a folder on your PC, to another device or directly to iTunes, in the case of movies and music.
In addition to letting you transfer content to and from your iPad, this app also comes with quite a few impressive extras, such as a video converter and a DVD ripper. Both of them let you convert files to H.264 and MPEG-4 and they include conversion profiles for pretty much the entire Apple iPod, iPad and iPhone lineup. There is also an online video downloader and a ringtone maker.
